I believed they were trapped and confined, somehow by their own circumstances. The foolishness of a traveler immersed in a land that isn’t their own, 

Yet still believed they have it better, 

That the grains of sand which they stood on needed to be liberated.

And they were, 

my nation had dictated that the time was right,

liberation was near,

And only now as I lay beside fallen ancient artifacts blow away by cannon fire,

I realized these people didn’t need help,

In fact my nation was only held together by nationalism and outlawed dissent. But, I guess my nation’s problems in which I was simply uninformed of. - Chace Walker

A writer's note- personally i'm not too proud of this poem, I don't think it does a good job of getting its message across. The poem at times can be too blunt and also too vauge. Tell me if you can figure out the injustice in the comments. The poem was also heavily inspired by Ozymadias.
