Name of technic: description of the environment.
“After having lunch at the base of the waterfall, many of us wanted to climb to an area above it”
^ it tells the reader that the people are having lunch so it’s probably in the afternoon, it also tells that they are having their lunch below a waterfall, and that they might want to move to the top of the waterfall to eat instead.
“ Full of laughter and daring, my group of friends decided to go ahead without asking the adults for permission”
^ tells the reader that there are adults there eating lunch as well and that the children did not ask their parents for permission to go up.

It means that Seth has got a firm hold of him and he saved him from falling off the mountain.

(1) I heaved a huge sigh of relief.
(2) I felt a sense of success and pride that i had conquered the climb
(1)He was relieved that he was saved by Seth and didn't fall off the mountain and get seriously injured or die.
(2)
- He felt successful as he climbed all the way to the top of the mountain (environment)conquering all the dangerous spots without letting his fear of falling affect him.
- He felt a sense of pride as he conquered one dangerous spot after another, and although there was a slope that was really vertical (change in environment) , he still put in his all and tried to grabhold of the next handhold. He failed to do so but he was still proud if the fact that he managed to conquer all the dangerous spots even though he was short.
