Reflection on today from my cottage and by reading the pages about this Uneco world bioshere reserve. What an incredible place it is. Such a rich flora and fauna. I have been there before with someone who is working for nature preservation. He introduced us for example the importance of the mangrove for our atmosphere. I was impressed. Guadeloupe has such a rich nature and this is so beautiful place. People are lucky when they can live here. I hope they understand the importance of valuing and preserving this as well. ❤️🌎

Today was a wonderful and most special day!
What did we learn?!
Wow! We experienced so much today that it’s hard to answer this.
We learned that
- Mangroves are the most important plants on our planet, because they produce so much oxygen
- one can walk on a drowned island
- that the corals grow on old shipwrecks and in old tires - and fish find their new homes in them

Today, snorkeling was especially awesome and we saw many colorful fish, flatfish, octopus and even a ray. It was just amazing!

Thank you for a beautiful day!

The entire trip was wonderful due to many opportunities to learn from what you see - first hand information and education.
We could see from the corals that our planet is at the brink of drastic change and in the midst of it there is tiny party island. That was weird!
So many fantastic opportunities to snorkle!

A class in paradise!
Caret Island is a source of inspiration and reflection. I have arranged with Kathy to come and visit my centre and a German teacher from my school will visit hers.
We have discovered that the mangroves are a source of life and food for humans and animals.
Among their roots we have seen how baby fish of all kinds swam including a barracuda and a baby ray .
Mangrove reproduction as viviparous plants, their seeds germinate before
separating from the mother plant, they grow on the branches and when they fall into the water they can travel long distances until they find muddy ground where they take root and grow, forming new forests.
Thank you Rita for today`s class!
It has been a unique experience!

I didnt undestand the value of the mangrove before today's session and hade never been to a place so influenced by climat change and human behaviour. We read about it, listens to news and discuss it but for me it was so tangible at the coral reef

Today's lesson took us out to the biggest lagoon in the Carribean region where I learned new facts about nature. Mangroves being the biggest lungs of the world, I was surprised how much oxigen they produce and how they grow. I had a unique chance to snorklel around its root system and observe underwater world.
Ilet Caret- island- is another example and spot where we can observe nature changes. How the island is changing and also slowly shrinking due to the climate change is interesting and also alarming to see.
Bird world in the sea is another exciting issue. We managed to observe many of them in mangroves.
It was amazing lesson where I also was thinking about my key competence- science!
