The author might have titled these paragraphs a surprising discovery because nobody knew the drawings were in the ground until Toribio Mejia Xesspe and his team of archeologists to find the ways how ancient people lived when on Xesspe's day off he went on a walk when he saw the drawings down on a hill. He was confused and didn't know why those drawing were there.

I can infer they are talking about the drawings and how nobody knew about them. And also how they might be symboles for something.

I believe the Nazca people made the lines because in the text on page 5-6 it says "The objects with unusual designs belonged to an ancient people called the Nazca." this is showing that once the Archeologists found the pottery and cloth they solved the mystery on who made the lines.

I can infer that it might have been ancient(Nazca) people. Text evidence to support this found on page 5 is "They found objects left by ancient people who might have made the incredible drawings in the desert. The objects with unusual designs belonged to an ancient people called the Nazca."
