This was a letter between a husband and wife the live far apart from each other. The husband moved to the U.S to get a job and make money. The wife was pregnant so she had to stay back in China. Those Chinese immigrants had to move to Hawaii because they got kicked out of the United States because of the Chinese Exclusion Act.
