Personal presence is something that allows you to build a connection with your students by being real. You give your students attention and consideration by being present. You show your students that you are more than “just a teacher” (i.e. the duality mentioned in the passage). As much you can be a positive influence for them, it can be reciprocal! In addition, showing your students that you are passionate about what you teach lets them to see why you love the content so much. This can help them be less intimated when approaching the subject.
