Who are you? I'm Mikel and I am gonna one of the facilitators of the Youth Exchange!

Where do you live? I originally come from the Basque Country (A region in the north of Spain) but I have been living in Sofia, Bulgaria since June 2020.

Why did you decide to join this project? I decided to create this project because during these times we are seeing how peace is threatened from many different perspectives and I think that being able to discuss such topics with a group of international people is a great opportunity for everybody.

What does peace mean to you?
For me, peace is much more than the absence of violence. Peace is a stage in which people can be free to live the way they want in which all their rights are respected. We'll discuss much more during the exchange ;)

Any curious facts about you:
I have two mother tongues (Basque and Spanish) and
I lived in Germany for a year and in Thailand for 6 months.

Who are you? I'm Klara and I am one of the volunteers for this project.

Where do you live? I'm from Munich, Germany, but currently live in Sofia.

Why did you decide to join this project? I decided to join this project, because promoting peace now is more important than ever considering the political situations all around the world. I believe that everybody can benefit from learning about peace and reflecting on current conflicts.

What does peace mean to you? To me, peace doesn't only mean no war, but also the ability for every citizen to live their life to the fullest and not being repressed or oppressed by outdated laws or by intolerance. Peace also means the upkeep of human rights to me.

Any curious facts about you: I lived in Beijing, China for a year.

Who are you? I'm Bernát and I am one of the volunteers!

Where do you live? I'm from Budapest, Hungary but right now I live in Sofia, Bulgaria!

Why did you decide to join this project? I decided to join this project because I thought it's going to be a great opportunity to discuss topics such as peace in an international environment. I think I will learn a lot through this project. And I also find it very important to discuss these topics!

What does peace mean to you? To me, peace means living together without any hatred or violence, but with respect and love. Human rights are the base of a peaceful society.

Any curious facts about you: I lived in Germany 6 years during my teenage years

Who are you?

I’m Rania, a volunteer for this project.

Where do you live?

I’m originally from near Cologne in Germany. But I now live in Sofia.

Why did you decide to join this project?

Because I believe that it is important to communicate to achieve peace, which is a goal we should all work towards to.

What does peace mean to you?

Peace is where everybody’s needs are met. There is no threat to one’s livelihood and no conflict about territories or human rights.

I used to be able to do 50 push-ups.

Who are you?
Hi! I am Elena Mena, 29 years old and I am happy to be one of the participants in this project.

Where do you live?
I live in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Why did you decide to join this project?
I strongly believe peace is crucial for human wellbeing and the progress of a society. It is sad, disturbing and degrading when violence is chosen instead of peace. I have always perceived peace as something normal, a gift and have never deepened my knowledge there.

Now I believe it is more than a human right, it is a concept. Also I am super curious and excited to participate in a project with a "Peace" as a topic through the lens & methods of non-formal education.

What does peace mean to you?
Peace is a sense within but it is highly impacted by the social situation, economy of the country, standard of life. Peace allows us to think in perspective, set long-term goals and invest in ourselves.

Any curious facts about you:
Recently I started learning & practicing Spanish.
I started cycling this month and I love it.

Currently I am on sabbatical.
