The FBI uses rapid DNA analysis, which is the process by which buccal swabs are developed. Crime scene samples are hard for rapid DNA analysis because they usually have DNA from more than one person. However, all crime scene samples are processed by a forensic DNA laboratory for greater accuracy. The FBI is currently working on modifications to the rapid DNA technology to improve it.

The Next Generation Identification (NGI) The Iris Service allows agencies to submit iris images and access criminal records, photos and data from wanted criminals, the National Sex Offender Registry and immigration violator files. Unlike fingerprints, every person (including identical twins) has a unique iris. The process is fast, accurate and contactless.
