         <title>How do schools today prepare students for global citizenship within biology and other group 4 subjects?</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Through the delivery of a broad and varied curriculum which is universal in nature.  Specific aspects of the course are common wherever we are from e.g. human physiology although we can study the different frequency of certain diseases around the world.  For example to consider sickle-cell anaemia during a genetics topic and link this with the malaria parasite and global warming.<br><br>In a more general sense, all group 4 subjects involve a great level of scientific process and how the level of scientific rigour during research across the world may vary.  By teaching the need to be unbiased, thorough and reliable we can add to the accuracy of research.<br><figure class="attachment attachment-preview"><img src="http://whyfiles.org/016skeeter/images/malaria_distribution_2000.gif" width="425" height="230"><figcaption class="caption"></figcaption></figure></div>]]></description>

         <title>What are the ways in which the texts, topics, or ideas in your classroom have benefited from contributions from other communities, cultures, and nationalities?</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>During plant science we have investigated the different adaptations of plants depending upon their environment e.g. C3 photosynthetic pathways.<br>Studying the role of genetics in determining skin colour and the properties that different skin tones have.<br>Investigation into the threats posed by global warming to different cultures and communities due to their habitat or ways of life e.g. feeding/farming habits.<figure class="attachment attachment-preview"><img src="https://qph.ec.quoracdn.net/main-qimg-ad364a85328c4903d22c07ce97d9becc?convert_to_webp=true" width="396" height="228"><figcaption class="caption"></figcaption></figure></div>]]></description>

         <title>How can you help your students understand the importance of international understanding as it relates to your course?</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>There are specific areas of the course where international understanding is required to enhance the pupils level of knowledge e.g. many of the topics listed above.&nbsp; However, if pupils are in a multi-cultural classroom it should be encouraged that they are as aware as they could be of each other and their respective backgrounds.<br>We will have discussions, where applicable which touch on the cultures and behaviours of pupils in the class, for example the laws regarding smoking in different countries, the legal age sexual intercourse, the legality of drug taking, the provision of health care etc.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>All of the areas discussed have contributed to an awareness of of pupils' cultures and backgrounds.  Through the delivery of course information which picks up on parts of the world where none of us are from e.g. endemism in Madagascar and why it is important to learn about things that may appear to be of no use!<br><figure class="attachment attachment-preview"><img src="http://www.exode-tropical.com/Eng/menu_vertical/reportages/geographie/madagascar/geographie_madagascar.jpg" width="500" height="334"><figcaption class="caption"></figcaption></figure></div><div><br></div>]]></description>
