.- Ok, when I was a 18 the customs in my house and throughout Spain was that the woman was the person who had to clean, to made the food, to help the children... And my mother couldn't buy a car or open a bank account, she needed the permit of my father.
.- And, can you give me an example of a situation of this type?.
.- Yes, one day my teacher of French arrived to class very angry because she had gone to the city to buy a car and she couldn't buy it because she needed the permit of her husband.
.- Oh, and did you have any problem in your life for being a woman?
.- Eh, not exactly, I have never had a problem for being a woman, but I have felt a type of disapragment when I went to the revision of the car, and the mechanic did the question to my husband, I answered his questions and the mechanic ignored me.

Interview to my grandmother:

Me: Hello grandma, I wanted to ask you what things you weren't allowed to do when you were younger and now you can.
Grandmother: Well, I couldn't go to live with my boyfriend or have children before I got married. It wasn't forbidden but it was very frowned upon.
Me: And is there anything else you couldn't do? Could you study?
Grandmother: I could only get the school graduate and learn to sew, because it was expected of women to get married and have children, not having a career.
Me: Could you dress as you wanted?
Grandmother: No, I couldn't wear short skirts and necklines, it wasn't well seen.

Hi grandmother how were your rights when you where younger?

Grandmother: First I couldnt go to school because I had to be at home taking care of my brothers and learning how to sew, cook and clean. I had to marry a man to escape from my parents house, but I still couldn't do what I wanted. I had to stay at home and do the housework. I wanted to study and being my own.

R: You could work?

N:No, I didn't work, like many other women. I used to stay at home and take care of my

daughters

R:Do you know about any women who could work?

N: Yes, she had that privilege but she used to work in a hard-working job and they paid less

than they paid a man doing the same job.

R:Wow, and what other things could you not do?

N:A lot of things, like driving, go to the bank, open an account at the bank... In those

day, women could only do housework and take care of the children.

She: Umm… ok, do you know that I have 3 sisters and 6 brothers, right?
M: Yes, I do
She: Well, I remember when my brothers turned 19 they had to do the "mili", while my sisters and I stayed at home. I mean, it was forbidden for woman to do the military service and I never wanted to do it but it´s great to have the choice. I also remember that my sisters and I helped my mother with the housework but my brothers helped my father with the farm, like, with the strong thing. And that´s it.
