Showing up even on the hard days

As healthcare workers, we were trained to show up even in the midst of our hard days, always prioritizing people in need first before ourselves. Selflessly answering to the call of duty despite the exposure, toxicity and sometimes missing out on the holidays and special occasions. There are good days and not so good days. Ironic as it may seem but doctors become patients too. They also need to rest and recuperate like everyone else. We are not immune to the numerous disease we are exposed to, but nonetheless we show up. We show up by placing ourselves in the shoes of the patients that are in much greater need of care not because it is our obligation but because it is our calling.
