Ragsdale (UGA B.S.Ed. ’01, M.Ed. ’03, Ed.S. '09), CJE, has been an educator since 2001 at Clarke Central H.S. in Athens, Ga., where his duties include advising the ODYSSEY Media Group and Iliad Literary-Art Magazine.  Additionally, he serves as Co-Department Chair of the English department at CCHS, coordinates student internships with the University of Georgia, serves as Gifted Coordinator and teaches English at the Title I school. 

Training of this year's staff is one of the biggest concerns I have right now. School, for better or worse, more or less ended for us in early March, as we left for spring break and never came back in person. I have worked at Cedar Shoals High School in Athens (maybe all of 5 miles from David) since 2006 and this will be my 7th year facilitating BluePrints Magazine, WJAG-TV, and our school yearbook. We also produce live sports broadcasts, but unfortunately, we will not be doing that during the pandemic. 
Training is definitely a shared concern for me. I'm most worried about communication between students and adults exploiting the situation to push them away more easily. I am the Media Arts adviser at Darlington School in Rome, GA. I advise the Jabberwokk yearbook, Darlingtonian online news site and the Inkslinger Lit Mag as well as teach photography. Prior to joining the Darlington community I taught in the Tampa area for 12 years, where I also advised yearbook. I currently serve as a director-at-large for the Journalism Education Association.

I just bought my first house and my Newfoundland, Nui, and cats, Max, Jamesie and Nick are very happy to have more space and I am happy to have a beautiful kitchen to cook in! I've just begun my masters program in Journalism Education at Kent State.

Much of my staff graduated last year so I'm having a "start over" year, which is good and bad.
