I agree, too, that it really helped with the Audit Trail. The addition of the videos was an interesting addition to the Audit Trail.

Martha C. There were too many different places to comment on something or to turn in an assignmentor to do an assigment. Sometimes I was really confused and frustrated, not at the work, but what I was supposed to do with the work. I enjoyed working on Padlett because the format is easy to use. Is there a way to do the Journey Shares and Interactive Journal in that format?

I do not know if this would be a possibility but perhaps doing "Padlet" for 3 weeks, then "Google Docs" for three weeks (instead of the back and forth). It might make things easier.

I found the type of assignments we were asked to do most helpful. We applied what we learned through course readings by completing assignments/reflections. For example, compiling the text set, journaling, blog writing, etc. In my opinion, the assignments weren't busy work. I feel that Mrs. Mitchell asked of us what we should ask of our students (format of assignments). Our assignments looked a lot like the strategies and ideas we read about!

There are many take aways. I learned so much! Umm, where to start? I would definitely say one take away is to consistently teach and model how mathematicians and scientists read and write within those specific disciplines. Another take away is that reading and writing can be seamlessly integrated regularly in the disciplines- it doesn't have to be like trying to fit a square in a triangle (or whatever the saying is- I'm brain dead at the moment-LOL). Another take away is that we need to prepare our students to be college and career ready- we need doers and thinkers and reading and writing in the content area will help prepare our students for critical thinking and problem solving to be ready for the years ahead.

All the readings and assignments were extremely beneficial but I couldn't stay caught up. A lot of that had to do with me getting a late start due to EOY teaching responsibilities. That last week was crazy busy and I didn't think to check USCU email either for course syllabus and assignments (my fault). I was checking my "work" email like crazy and then a lightbulb turned on that told me to check Blackboard. From that point, I was a hamster on a spinning wheel. Perhaps for the summer courses that move extremely fast, maybe reduce the amount of reading or discussion board responses just a little?? I am thankful for the extra time to complete assignments and the leniency on due dates. If not, I'd be chopped liver. Or for initial contact, use preferred email..if given. ??? Thank you for your patience, feedback and expertise in the literacy field!
