         <description><![CDATA[<div>. main functions of spine; protect spinal cord, support the; head, neck  and body for movements. <br><br>has 3 main curves; cervical curve (<br>thoracic curve )</div><ul><li>lumbar curve (</li><li>also has the sacrococcycal curve which starts developing at 20 y/o and doesnt stop till middle age.</li></ul><div><br>intervertebral discs are made up of annulus and a nucleus which are what allow for movement and weight bearing by compressing the disc. <br>the posterior region of the vertebrae is where muscles are allowed to attach to and it protects the spinal cord which houses our nerves. <br><br>3 main types of vertebrae: cervical, thoracic and lumbar <br>all have different structures to allow for different functions. <br><br>scoliosis; a medical condition where a persons spine is curved from side to side. <br>causes; congenital, idiopathic, habitual. <br>more common in girls than boys and shows up in childhood/early teen years. is genetic. can be seen with uneven shoulders, hips, protruding ribcage when bending over. </div>]]></description>
