The name of the personality disorder is Borderline Personality Disorder. The reason is the film shares an associative link between Glenn Close's character, Alex Forrest, and Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). Viewers like myself who watches Alex Forrest may make a clear connection between the behavior and inner life of this day. However, the egregious aspect is that because Glenn seems to play a crazed stalker much more than she plays a nuanced, possible sufferer of Borderline Personality Disorder.
Interestingly to say that most people that reasons about persons of the Borderline Personality Disorders may often refer you to watch "Fatal Attraction." The status of the matter is that Borderline Personality Disorder may erroneously diagnosed at the early onset. Therefore individual with such label may frequently suffer the stigma which is the reason misguidance of the label or diagnosis should be cautioned. Based on DSM-IV diagnostic criteria an individual with BPD tends to suffer from a self-imposed chaotic social life.
Like Glenn and Alex in the film "Fata Attraction relationships seem very important ,but they tend to be superficial, unstable and conflict-filled bonds, marked by intense emotions, fluctuating perceptions of others, and constant fears of abandonment. In the film we see that relationship to one's self and, in turn, one's emotions is pervasively threatened by invisible, internal forces as well.
