You can work with someone else or in a group to generate ideas. 

Please include a selfie or group selfie along with your post. That way you will be one more friendly and familiar face for the incoming members of the Class of 2027. 

2: When you say you’ll be productive, actually follow through with your plan. I know this seems obvious, but sometimes you just ignore your plans instead of following them.

3: On the topic of plans, always have one. Figure out your priorities and have everything listed neatly. That way you can keep track of everything and clear your mind for the work.

(Also side note, there’s really not that much work. You should be able to finish everything in the assigned time frame.)

Use your time properly because there is less homework at the start of the year.

Get some sleep like 8 to 9 hours per day.

And go to intramural or extra help after school.

My tips for you is to work hard and try your best and study hard. Also attend extra help when you need help because it will help you with homework or help study for a test. You will have homework and test and use your time carefully and don’t waste time.

Welcome to SMS!!! Here are some tips for your 6th grade roller coster. Make sure to manage your time. Enjoy your year in 6th grade because it’s easy for the most part. Try not to stress too much because 6th grade grades don’t count as much as 7th and 8th unless you want to get into advance classes next year. Make sure to get good rest if you have a test/quiz the next day. You will have a few field trips, including Frost Valley. You should definitely consider going! Take advantage of all the opportunities available. Such as extra help and math center, it will help you with your test. Stay on top of your studies. These are our names:

   If you don’t understand a topic or you need help on homework, the teacher/teachers will help you.

3. Try to join clubs.

   Clubs are very fun and are a good break from a stressful school life. In clubs that you choose, you can do fun activities and interact with different people.

Don’t cram everything in one day. If there’s a test coming up, and you need to take notes. Don’t spend the whole day writing notes. Instead, use a schedule to manage your day, when you work and when you take a break.

Get extra help if needed. If there’s something you have trouble on doing' or if you have trouble boosting your grade, and there’s nobody to help you, go to extra help after school. You don’t have to spend the whole night, finding out the solution to your problem, but just have someone in extra help to help you. This can help with grades and test scores.

2) don’t procrastinate, procrastinating makes you stay up to 2 am doing homework, and staying up late harms your mental and physical health!!

3) get friends, getting friends makes school very fun, but you have to trust them, you have to be able to rely on them and make sure they pay you back when they borrow money, speaking of that

4) bring money (if you can) just in case you are hungry after school, you can always go to room 605 to buy snacks.

2. Details and effort count. Sometimes it counts more than the actual assignments. If you hand in a sloppy artwork, you’ll get lots of points off. If you hand in an assignment late, you’ll also get points off. Teachers have eagle eyes and see more than you think they can.

3. YouTube and other games/social media platforms/etc are not as important as you think they are. Live in the moment and spend your time on things that actually count, like homework, hanging out with friends and family, and self care. 90% of social media content is guaranteed fake and will probably do nothing good to you. Only bad eyesight and mental depression. This is cutting off your communication skills and your ability to socialize. So minimize your screen time to make time for more important things, and things that are 100% real.

(Bonus tip: Make sure to make new friends and socialize with many different people. Broaden your interest in friends. Make sure to join clubs, the theater company, or HTV in 7th grade to get involved and make a lasting impact on the school! Also, emphasis on the time management. If you waste your time on useless things, when you’re old and graying, you’ll find that you really, really want those years back. Although social media maybe entertaining, you can find yourself going down a rabbit hole scrolling for hours and hours on end. When you finally put your device down, hours have gone by and you haven’t started your assignments yet, and you scramble to finish them at midnight. Your sleep is valuable and important, and does make a big difference, so treasure your time wisely. But remember to have fun! 6th grade is all about trying new things, new beginnings, and getting involved! Worry about the other grades later.) ;D

Friends are very valuable and important people that will help guide you through your whole middle school journey and most of them are made in 6th grade, make good friends that will make you laugh and will influence and inspire you in a good way. Make friends that you can trust, having someone that you can rant to is very important and can help you a lot, someone that you can spill all your secrets to is very valuable and can help you survive through your 6th grade life. Making true friends that will help you through thick and thin and will lead you in right direction are very important and can even change your whole future and outlook. So don’t be scared to be rejected, socialize!

2. The only person that can change you is yourself:

Don’t be affected by other people’s words and opinions, your judgement is yours and yours only, stay true to yourself and trust your gut. You know yourself best. Don’t rely on others to do work for you, if you don’t make an effort then you won’t go far. For example, instead of blaming your mom for not waking you up, set an alarm. Don’t blame others for things that you can control yourself. You can’t change the world but you can change how you react. If you don’t make an effort, no matter how much effort and money and dedication other people spend, it’s only up to you to change. You should not be scared to stand out. You might think everyone is judging you but they have much more other things to be worried about, people who judge other’s probably are wasting their time because they have so much more stuff to be concerned about than you, haters gonna hate. But your life is your choice, and they can’t control it.

3. Don’t procrastinate:

This is what I wish someone told me before 6th grade. You might think that you have a much of time and it’s fine. But you’re wrong, always think ahead. You might have a week to do a project but if you keep pushing it away and keep saying tomorrow you’ll never get anything done and eventually in no time you will have only one day to cram in a project and stay up till 5 am. YouTube, and social media is not as important as your sleep and education. If you don’t want to be beat up by your mom when you get a F, then don’t procrastinate! Work hard and play hard. If you play first then you won’t have any motivation or goal to work towards. If you work hard first then you will have a goal to achieve. Finish all your work then you are free to play all day. Don’t wast your time and energy on stuff like brain rot and drama that won’t matter in a few years. Your education is much more important and you should value and appreciate it.

2: If you’re having a lot of trouble with a class, and you have the time, go to extra Help, and don’t think that it’s some kind of stain on your record, if you need help, you need it.

3: Join clubs. If you want to make friends (which you should), or just do something you enjoy, you really should take some clubs if you can fit them into you schedule. I made this mistake, and now I wish I had joined more than one.

1. Remember homework and deadlines. These will help a lot because remembering to do any homework is crucial, there may not be a lot of homework but it can also matter a lot.

2. Don’t trust what other people say about middle school, trust me it’s not that bad. The teachers are nice and the work is fine. In the halls there may be some language and immature things happening, so just look out.

3. Having friends or people to talk to is very important, without having people to talk to or at least work with then middle school can get hard. It’s fine if you want to work alone I just think it’s nice to have someone to talk to.

4. There are lots more responsibilities in middle school than elementary school, so make sure you listen to the teacher, don’t fool around, and try your best. Teachers will do their best to try and help you but you have to do your own work!

5. Middle school 6th grade comes with a lot of cool events, activities, and more. Be ready because it’ll be lots of fun!

Overall, 6th grade will be a very fun and exciting year. It may be hard at first but trust me you’ll get through it and it’ll be an extraordinary year!

1. ALWAYS be prepared with your materials. It’s always better to be prepared rather than having to sit in class in shame without your work.

2. DO NOT procrastinate your work for the last day, even if it may seem like only little work, it is not worth the last minute stress at all.

3. Be social with those around you and ask if you share some common interests, and you’ll make new friends.

4. Be productive in class and listen and you’ll understand the concepts of different subjects and get your work done faster, and at home you’ll have some free time to yourself.

5. Be yourself and who you are, you don’t need to change yourself to fit in or make friends.

6. Let yourself have fun and join clubs and go to afterschool activities with your friends. Trust me it’s so fun.

   
   

   Some overall tips to summarize this is don’t worry at all about middle school, the teachers are amazing and so nice and honestly they make learning about the subjects really fun. It’s not as hard as elementary teachers or other people exaggerate it to be just make sure to put in your best effort and it’ll be great. You’ll get the hang of the school even though it may seem like a lot. If you don’t think you’ll make new friends then take my word for it, YOU WILL. Make sure to make good decisions and middle school will literally fly.

1. We know it’s common for people to do/turn in assignments last minute. But listen to our word, do not procrastinate..(delay or postpone action) it’s going to backfire (I had experience—sadly)

2. Never look away or daydream, the second your attention floats away from the classroom, it’s the second you get called on to answer a question. Or the second you have to ask a billion questions.

3. Start thinking about your 7th grade journey, 6th grade goes by very fast…

4. If you’re copying down study notes, make sure you use bullet points or short sentences that are neat. (I doubt anyone is going to study by reading long paragraphs) —in other words, be ORGANIZED

5. Teachers are really nice so if you have questions, (that aren’t stupid or obvious) make sure to ask them..just not when they’re teaching (they’ll get annoyed/upset most of the time)

6. Be CREATIVE and BRAVE when sharing presentations, don’t just read off of it, (like I did…) instead, use short sentences in presentations and while you’re presenting, you can explain the details. (Don’t worry about memorizing it…)

7. This is not a tip/advice but…good luck on your first year of middle school! It’ll be a fun journey, whether or not you landed on the team you wanted to be on!! Hehe

6th grade won’t be so scary once you start. Just make sure you will turn in your work on time, you be fine. Once you’re in 6th grade try to stay out of trouble and make good friends. Make sure you get on your teachers good side so that they give you good grades. Don’t procrastinate your work, if you wanna play games play it after you do your work. Not only will you feel satisfied that you did your work, you will also know that your work is completed so you don’t have to work on it last minute. Study for every test don’t think it will be easy so you won’t study. Try not to get involved with drama, it’s not fun. Follow the rules, don’t do anything you’re obviously not supposed to.

Sixth grade might sound scary at first but it is actually really exciting! Since you are already in Team Discovery, you are already off to a great start! The Team Discovery teachers are super nice and welcoming to everyone, and you are so lucky to be in this team!

Figuring out the school format might be confusing and overwhelming at first but you will adjust to it over time.

Remember to focus on your grades and make sure not to procrastinate. Make sure to be nice to everyone, even if they are different from you.

Making trustworthy friends are a big part of sixth grade because they will be with you for the rest of the year. Having a good friend who you can trust will help you emotionally and physically. Hanging out with the wrong crowd can change who you are and lead you to doing things you couldn’t imagine yourself doing.

Try not to be addicted to your ipad. Goofing off on your iPad will ruin your reputation, lead to bad grades, and little attention span.

Don’t pay attention to “ships”. Yes, you might think they are fun and funny to do, but all you are doing is haunting the person for life (unless they do like them, but that’s a different story.)

Joining different clubs allow you to make new friends and hobbies. They also allow you to meet new teachers that you can possibly meet in the next year.
