A flood is defined as when the soil cannot hold anymore water and the water sits on top. I know this because the book "Floods! Rising, Raging Waters" defines it like that on page 19. This is most interesting to me because I grew up in the California Desert and so floods aren't something I'm used to thinking about. However, understanding floods is essential for all people because if global warming is true then floods will become more common and we should know what to do about it. I believe this because I believe that knowledge is power.
