The vermilion Cliffs are really steep eroded rock formations. They are made out of sandstone, limestone, and shale. The cliffs are in northern Arizona and southern Utah. A huge part of the cliffs is protected. About 112, 500 acres of land turned into the Paria Canyon - the cliffs and the wilderness. The Paria Canyon is made out of red sandstone and of course sand. It was once all that but flat ground by rain and wind it got eroded down.

The Matterhorn is a famous mountain in Switzerland. The Matterhorn was shaped by a stream of water and ice flowing down it. the Matterhorn got it's name from the German word matte, the word matte means valley, or meadow. The Matterhorn is 14,693 feet high, this makes it one of the tallest mountains in the world.

weathering and erosion shaped it through a process of chemical weathering,where acidic groundwater dissolved the surrounding limestone. It made it have really cool calcite crystal formation,especially unique are the helictites,which are twisted worm like crystals.

the stone forest in China got its name from all of the big rocks. the plants seeds are wedging into cracks in the rocks and braking down rocks into sediment.

The stone Forest are filled with limestone columns. It located in Yunnan province, China and it a Suogeyi village. Also you can call the stone forest Shilin.

It was once a shallow sea but forces from inside the earth pushed rocks above the water, that is now the forest you see now. There is also an underground river, erosion shaped the rock in the forest. Although I have never been there I think most of the rocks are smooth from that water. I have read on websites that it is a good place to tour!

Bryce canyon is famous for it's unique rock formacion's called hoodoo's.The reason why is the hoodoo's are very tall and colorful shaped by wind and water millions of years ago.Even tho its called a canyon.Bryce canyon isn't a true canyon instead its a series of huge natural ampitheaters carved into the size of a high plateau .The rocks here are red,orange and white making for its amazing view's.the rims of Bryce canyon is about 8000-9000 feet high.

The Matterhorn sits right on the border between Switzerland and Italy but most of the mountain stands in Switzerland. The view hangs over the Swiss village of Zermatt and the Italian village of Brevil-Cervinia. The Matterhorn mountain was named after the German words matte which means valley or meadow and horn which means peak.n The Matterhorn has two main summits. The summits are around 100 miles apart and form the border between Switzerland and Italy. In 1792, a scientist named Horace Benedict de sassure used a special tool and a chain to measure the Matterhorn. He figured it was about 4,501.7 meters tall. The Matterhorn was formed about 100 million years ago. The Apullian plate(a piece of Gondwana) moved closer and closer towards Europe. This caused the Tethys ocean to close as it's floor was pressed down under the Apullian plate. The mountain building began when the European continent crashed into the Apullian continent. The massive collision pushed and folded the Earth's crust, creating the massive layers of rock forming the Alps.
