The TEDtalk focuses on topic about our mobile technologies more specifically sending e-mails and texts, that are psychologically powerful that does not only change what we do but also change who we are as a person brought about by these modern technologies. The TEDtalk also talked about things that were considered odd back in the day, like using mobile phones in events such as corporate meetings and others just to be able to send e-mails. The Tedtalk also talked about how we relate to each other through these modern day technologies. Sherry Turkle which is the speaker talked about how our communications with each other have changed, she talked about parents checking their e-mails at breakfast ignoring their kids while the children also ignores their siblings because they are too focused on their own mobile phones.Sherry Turkle also talked about removing our griefs by texting to avoid the thought of being hurt. Friends and family being together but not totally being together because one of them is focused on their phones. Sherry Turkle also spoke about how we ignore and avoid each other and how we do not want to be interrupted. Her argument is that texting , emails and posting is our way of representing our self as we want to be. Where we can edit, retouch and delete what ever we do not want to he reflected upon us. Speaking about this it lead to the question why are people so afraid of conversation, where people said that they afraid of it because conversations require a place and real time ,also people answered that they do not know what to say in a conversation. She also argued that we sacrifice real conversation just for mere connection, for example instead of us having a conversation with our friends and family who are in front of us we use our mobile devices so we could be somewhere else and we could connect to people who are far away from us. A little conversation matters a lot because it can greatly affect how we reflect upon ourselves. Self reflection is very important because it is the solid foundation of development. I agree with what she has said about the changes in communication because of our mobile devices, where we choose to just text rather than to communicate in person, this has a great effect with our relationship with each other because communication is a basic function for us humans, we communicate to express our anger, our grief, sadness, excitement, gratitude, we communicate to express our needs. In short real communication is the thing that binds us together that is why we must not dare to take it for granted. Real conversation should start with those people who are in front of us, our family, friends and loved ones, before we even try to connect with people who are far away from us, before we meet new friends.
