         <description><![CDATA[<div>Given a real-world problem, students were able to apply their math and science knowledge to help solve the problem of improving the performance of a race car. The lesson utilized the 5 E's: Engagement, Exploration, Explanation, Extension, and Evaluation, to outline the different parts of the lesson. All in all, the lesson represented that of a project-based instructional lesson where students were able to work at their own pace and connecting prior knowledge by applying it to other concepts.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Personally, project-based instruction is my ideal way of teaching concepts. They allow students to truly explore a concept and discover it versus having a teacher model something and then do practice problems. This method of teaching allows for students to gain a deeper conceptual understanding of topics and really grasp the root of why a concept works and makes sense.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Although project-based instruction is a great way for students to dive deeper into concepts and ultimately gain a better understanding of the material, it is quite time consuming to both plan and to execute. When planning a projected-based lesson you really must look at the lesson through the student's eyes and note common misconceptions and similar things to ensure that the students do not get confused and stay on the right path for the lesson with little to no teacher interaction. If you want to do a proper project-based lesson then you need to have ample time to do so or have a group of students who are used to moving on to different parts of an activity in an efficient manner. A 50-60 minute class period might not be enough time to have the students fully get through the lesson and have a good understanding of what they learned.</div>]]></description>
