Abstinence is the only 100% effective way of preventing teen pregnancy. A good benefit to remaining abstinent is that you are able to protect yourself from Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD's). Abstinence is the safest way to prevent pregnancy, there are no side effects unlike other methods of preventing pregnancy. While being Abstinent, you can focus on your career, school, to support your personal beliefs, and to refrain from STD's.

A form of Birth Control is called "The Patch". If a hundred couples were to have sex, eight of the women would become pregnant. Although is is effective, it cannot protect against STD's. This form of Birth Control, is a square patch that releases hormones through the skin into the bloodstream thus creating the hormones that causes the body's organs to function properly. The patch prevents ovulation, since there is no egg being released the girl cannot become pregnant.

There are 2 forms of a Condom, a male condom and a female condom. A Male Condom is moderately effective, eighteen couples out of a hundred couples having sex would become pregnant. They also protect against STD's. Even though, a male condom is not a complete fail, they can break during intercourse causing them to be ineffective. A Female Condom is less effective, with twenty-one couples out of a hundred couples having intercourse becoming pregnant. Although they do protect against STD's.

Both condoms should not be worn at the same time. They could get stuck together, possibly causing one or the other to slip during intercourse making them ineffective.

Another form of Birth Control is Fertility awareness, not having sex around the time of ovulation. If the woman is unaware of when her ovulation is occurring, she can use a calendar, an app, or a thermometer so she can record her body temperature. Although it can prevent pregnancy, Fertility Awareness cannot protect against STD's.

*However, couples who are wanting to have a baby also use this method, except they do perform sexual intercourse around the time of ovulation.
