We are going to first watch this fun video that explains how to subtract using numbers within 10! In this lesson kids will be able to visually see how numbers can be taken apart to be subtracted by. A video such as this one is also good for auditory learners since they can remember the tune of the song better!

For this part of our lesson, we will work through a worksheet to show what the students have learnt. We will do this one in small groups, helping each other and then review as a class. The teacher will help students who need a little extra help. It is a good way for students to exercise what they know.

To wrap up our lesson, we are going to do an inclusive activity in the classroom. Kids will have monster toys that we crafted earlier in class and have to figure out how many they have to add or subtract to get the number that is shown on the board. Not only does this show what they know, but it is a fun opportunity to visually see what is being subtracted or added.
