She hopes that individual participation and awareness will have  a big role for the solution. Firstly, the author mentions although plastics can't disappear in the environment for long centuries, plastics production grows year to year since 1950. She defends that ocean plastic problem is not complex as climate change due to accessible and easy solutions for every individuals. She defends that even though the number of plastics which people produce increase, we can't see all plastics but there are a lot of microplastics and these microplastics can go into fish's and human's body. Moreover, she argues that popular companies such as Pepsi, Coca cola and Nestle (the names are not necessary, the necessary point is that companies produce most of it) produce most of the plastics in World and some Asian countries can't maenage this these plastic waste. However, not only these companies and countries but also the ones producing and promoting the use of single-use plastics are guilty about in this pollution. Parker defends that people can be more conscious because we have opportunities. We should watch the change of World.

After that, First, she claims that, plastic production has been rising dramatically over the years and most of it ends up in the ocean because of not being recycled unrecyling.
Following that, she mentions we are capable to solve the plastic problem and she emphasizes this argument by giving the quotation of Siegler who tells ''It’s a matter of building the necessary institutions and systems''(in summaries we directly quotes key concepts and terms, but we rewrite the ideas in our words. Here you need to rewrite the ideas in your own words). Then she explains that we can't find more plastic in the sea although the production of plastic has risen, because the missing plastic is divided into many pieces which are difficult to see by the time so they are assumed that they've disappeared but actually as Thompson said (in summaries we focus on the main points, we do not mention the owner of the idea)  they are microplastic that can be found in the fishes.
