Both Rome and America had legislative and executive branches to rule.

Americas President elects a Commander in Chief of the military while Rome has the consouls lead the army.

The Judicial branch has nine justices for America and the Roman Republic had eight judges.
Roman senators served for life while American senators served for six years.
Rome still owned slaves when America stopped which was in 1885 in the US.

America used some of the Greek Democracy techniques to form their government.
One downside is that if a group big enough votes on a bad law it can be passed still.

I think that the Roman Republic was better because it ended up lasting much longer and the way they ran the government it prevented crazy and unsafe laws from being passed.

Do you think the republic model still works for the United States?  Why or why not?
Yes the republic model does still work because we have a stable government and it helps from bad laws being passed.

Would an Athenian Direct Democracy model work in the United States?  Why or why not?
I don't think the Athenian Democracy would would because people would want to get illegal drugs legalized and other bad things happen. In the end the Greek Democracy would work best in the earlier days when there where less problems.
