Our team executed the FY24 plans well and worked closely with partners like NTUC, SNEF, TAL, MOMA (and even TF and research partners) on various key issues. The resilience, teamwork and positive attitude was the key highlight.

We realise that partnerships was key to multiply our efforts and the year showed how we grew stronger through links with the industry. New links and opportunities formed with LKYSPP, CSC and MOMA..realise its through weak links that new areas can be developed further. Through it all, it was like building/ shaping a strong foundation/platform like a lego brick model on tripartism for future generations.

This helps as a good stepping stone for LRWD to do greater things (I.e policy development, push for fair workplace practices and start discussions on new areas like AI/climate change etc)✨️

As a team, we have achieved many many milestones across the different teams - platform work, managing retrenchment incidents, tripartism thinkpiece, workplace discrimination 1st bill covering enforcement and more. So it is hard to pick just one. Thinking harder, I realise that the one thing I am most proud of and grateful for is the people and team camaraderie in OPPD. Throughout the year, everyone worked hard and persevered to push through their items no matter how tired or sianz they may feel. Not only that, folks here are also very willing to help each other out, not only within their team but even across teams including on dreadful PQs. This is the one precious feature of OPPD that we must not lose. Without it, we will not be happy working here and we will also not accomplish as much.

One of the achievements I’m most proud of in FY24 was being part of the team that worked on the implementation of the Platform Workers Legislation. It wasn’t just about working on policies—we had to work through the nitty-gritty details of execution, tackle operational challenges, and ensure that workers and businesses could adapt smoothly.

At the same time, we navigated tough and multiple PQs on retrenchment with timelines that eats into officer’s rest time, all in the name of making sure concerns about worker protections and tripartism were addressed clearly and thoughtfully.

It wasn’t always smooth sailing. There were tough discussions, unexpected roadblocks, <s>and the occasional scolding</s> when things didn’t go as planned. But through it all, the team stuck together, putting in the hard work, long hours, and plenty of back-and-forth debates to get things right. I’m grateful to have worked alongside such a dedicated and resilient team—the kind that supports each other, keeps a sense of humor even in tense moments, and never loses sight of why we do this work.

As Helen Keller put it, "Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much."
