Warm-up (5–10 minutes)

Use images or flashcards of: DEVICES AND NEW SYSTEM
📞 Phone | 💬 Text | 📧 Email | 🧑‍🤝‍🧑 In person | 📱 Social Media

Ask the student:

What is this? (phone, email, etc.)

this is ways of communication.

Do you use Social media? why?

well, i think i do and a lot , because i work with marketing in my social media.

Who do you talk to on the phone most of the time?

at the moment i talk more on the phone with my crush or my friend Monty.

do you prefer to talk to people on the phone or in person?

let me tell you that i prefer to talk in person because you are more connected to the person and it decreases the interferences of the communication.

📚 2. Vocabulary (10 minutes)

Teach these key words with pictures and examples:

communicate – to talk or write to someone

in person – face-to-face

prefer – like something more

phone, text, email, social media, message

📝 Activity: Match the word to the picture or draw lines.

🎧 3. How are you?
Georgie: Hi, Beth. I’m OK, but my room is a big mess.
Beth: Oh no! Is your room messy?
Georgie: Yes, very messy. Beth says her kitchen is a bit messy, but she likes things clean. She allows a little mess sometimes, but quickly fixes it. Georgie says her house is very tidy, especially since she shares a house with other people, and they try to keep everything very organized. Beth doesn't like washing dishes; her husband washes the pots and pans she doesn't put in the dishwasher. When she needs to, she puts on music to distract herself from the problem of washing dishes. Georgie likes tidying her room and the feeling afterward, and that's on her to-do list. Beth needs to vacuum the house, and that's on her to-do list.

New words:

bit -

rules - regras

Length - Comprimento

Washing up - Lavagem

should - deveria

dishes/dishwasher - pratos/máquina de lavar louça

houver - aspirador

dirty - sujo

heard - ouvido

Georgie say that he is very honest an open book she can't keeping secrets she shares things too much. Beth considers herself similar to Georgie, but if someone asks her not to tell anyone, she won't. So, Beth had to keep the secret from her boyfriend, who was going to surprise him abroad, and she succeeded. Georgie had to keep the secret that her friend was going to ask another friend out. It was difficult for her to keep it, but she was happy she did. Beth then remembered when her friend asked her to keep the secret of her pregnancy and asked her not to tell anyone, not even her mother, but Beth accidentally told her mother and felt bad about it. For Beth, some secrets are good, but when you have to lie, there's nothing good. Georgie agrees and reaffirms that she doesn't hide lies, that her expression is transparent. Sometimes you can look at someone's face and know what they're thinking. That's good because I'll always know you're being honest and not keeping any secrets from me.
