If you environment is not stable, and you don't have supporting people in your life you are a higher chance developing delinquency. Developing delinquency could bring you into a life of social downfalls, such as depression and being anti-social. Your mental health will decrease significantly and you will have a greater chance of committing things in life that are morally wrong, but you will not know it is morally wrong. A stable environment is key to development of a young child because lack thereof could lead to delinquency.

On June 15, 2013, Ethan Couch became intoxicated and drunk after a night out. He decided to drive under the influence and as a result took the lives of 4 people, and injured 9. As a result, he was indicted of intoxicated manslaughter but was only given 10 years of probation because his lawyers used the defense of affluenza. Affluenza is used as a defense of one's actions because of financial privilege. Reserach studies have show that this is a real thing and that your childhood environment influences the things you do when you grow up.

Klass, Caila, and Alexa Valiente. “'Affluenza' DUI Case: What Happened Night of the Accident That Left 4 People Dead.” ABC News, ABC News Network,

Application to Theme : Good vs. Evil

The environment you are in and the behaviors you learn can play a role in whether or not you are “good” or “evil.
These pieces of literature relate to our theme because these acts show the conflict of good v. evil . In each article you can see signs of good and some signs of evil and some good within their innocence based on how old they are. For example, Ethan Couch you can obviously see the bad in his actions and although the good is very hard to find, a kind of good may be seen in that he had afluenza which means he may had not committed this if he had nothing wrong with him. Our PDF sub topic connected with our theme because it simply explained that in most cases if you were raised in a good environment you most likely to stay away from delinquency and kids raised in a bad environment will end up being delinquents.

- In an effort to prevent juveniles from committing such serious crime, Tate and Williams faced an adult trial and received harsh punishment under first-degree murder charges.
- Critics don't believe that the children should have been punished as adults because of the influence it might have on them emotionally.
- The author talks about how harsh punishments won't help in the long run and these kids will keep committing crime.
- The tone of the article shows hope in kids who have committed serious crimes.
- The author shares a strong opinion of kids at this age are not capable of weighing the costs and benefits beforehand.
- The author gives many examples of how children should be put in juvenile systems instead of serving adult time for adult crime.
-The article showed both sides of the story and included numerous examples and quotes which makes it a credible source.

Lionel Tate and Charles ¨Andy¨ Williams are two teens that committed harsh crimes, and stuck in the middle of a controversy as to whether they should be charged as adults or not. They both seemingly have rough childhoods, and that would lead into the development of delinquency, and why they have done what they did.
