I definitely want to work in the school theater department directing or working with students on plays and musicals. My past drama teachers have done shows that have roles that specifically highlight minorities and give students opportunities regardless of what their life looks like outside of school.

attend meetings and talk with administrators and staff to find out what’s going on around the school (I want to hopefully help with the school newspaper)
they would protest and have meetings with administrators as well as going on strike when needed

1) I plan to get to know my administrators within my school and pay attention to or attend school board meetings so I can understand what decisions are being made and how they will affect my class.

2) My previous teachers would bring up injustices as a point of discussion and we would sometimes do some impromptu research on it so we could understand better what was going on.

Question 1: I think being a coach or a club advisor is a great way to be actively involved with the community at school and outside of school.

Question 2: One good example is the Union that my mother is in just had a huge meeting to get something in the Plainfield government passed forcing the school district to pay their teachers more.

I would want to get involved with the school community- whether that is just going to students activities or helping other teachers with their classes.

My past teachers would try their best to solve it on their own- most of the time it didn’t work.

I might get involved in my school community by coaching some sports that I did in the past.

Honestly just going against the people in power... our administration were power hungry greedy scum bags... and my teachers did not make it a secret that they thought that.

2) A few teachers I knew were very loud and outspoken when particular issues arise and would also send out emails raising awareness
