To begin with, Did you know that Haroun and the Sea of Stories was actually labeled a children’s book in 1990? In Haroun and the Sea of Stories by Salmon Rushdie, the story takes place in a city so sad that it has forgotten its name in the country of Alifbay. As a child Haroun’s father is a storywriter and his mother loves to sing. Salmon Rushdie’s Haroun and the Sea of Stories should be considered an adult novel because in the story, the author displays a sad city, uses word that children would not know, and children books are usually way shorter.

Did you know that more than 4,000 books have been banned for school in the U.S? Haroun’s father is the shah of blah this means that he is the storyteller but the problem is the live in the sad city it is so sad that it forgot its name. Everyone trusted the share of bla and what him to speak with them so people would trust them but he started to lose his stories but haroun was not giving up so him went to the sea of stories to save his father's stories but he ended up saving the sea. In the book Haroun and the Sea of Stories by Salman Rushdie it should be considered an adult novel this is because many of the saying kids don’t get and because of the violence in the book.

Ishmeal's attitude/beliefs changes throughout the text such as when Ishmeal was first going to into war with older soldiers leading them into the forest. After they flipped the bodies over and took the guns Ishmeal tells us from his thoughts “I was not afraid of these lifeless bodies. I despised them and kicked them to flip them.”(Beah, chapter 13) In this quote it shows how Ishmeal feels. This explains the thesis because in the beginning he didn't know how someone could kill a person but know Ishmael doesn't even feel a thing with “these lifeless bodies”. Ishmeal also changes his beliefs throughout his journey.

Haroun and the Sea of Stories contain themes that are dark or mature for children. When Haroun was heading to the Twilight Strip with some people of Guppee he was thinking to himself about the mission because he starts to fear they will lose and perish in battle. “It was a suicidal mission,” Haroun became convinced; they would be defeated, and Batcheat would perish, and the Ocean would be irreparably ruined, and all stories would come to a final end.” (Rushdie 121). Haroun thinks about how this mission can go wrong and get everyone killed when they head towards the Twilight Strip. Clearly mention suicide, perish, and death, which are words not associated in children’s books. This proves why Haroun and the Sea of Stories is an adult novel due to its dark and mature themes, but an additional reason is because of the many words and expressions that are hard for children to understand.

In conclusion , Ishamel Baeh did have transition over the course of his experience because he became aggressive, soft, and a drug addict. He became violent when he was drafted as a soldier , he had no mercy with the rebels and just kicked them around like rocks. He became soft or vulnerable because he was scared and worried about his family getting killed and he was scared of holding and killing at first. One of the last reasons were he became a drug addict, he liked doing drugs because it kept him calm and stronger at his case. Don’t take life for granted, because it can change anytime and anywhere and any day.

In the book A Long Way Gone by Ishmael Beah, Ishmael does change throughout the course of the story because before joining the war Ishmael is a typical teenage boy happily enjoying his childhood with friends but later on joining the war only focusing on killing people or taking his drugs. After all he went through thankfully with the help of the UNICEF they were able to help other boy soldiers including Ishmael himself to become rehabilitated. How would you feel if someone you love was taken to become a child soldier ?.

Second of all, it sounded like Malala’s father could not imagine not having her because in Chapter 10 Malala was speaking to the audience. “Tell me how one live without daughters.” In this quote Malala talks about how she believes that she plays a big role in her father’s life. Even though you are supposed to celebrate if you have a girl her father still did. Even tho Malala was a girl he cared about her so much and did not want anything to happen to her. He wanted to have her no matter what. She can imagine her dad without their daughter. He would probably not have owned a school. He did that for her. He wanted the best for her. Malala’s father and her were very close. It would have been very different if Malala was not in her father’s life.

In summary, In the book A Long Way Gone Ishmael Beah caused many horrendous acts as a child. Therefore his actions are not justified because he chose to kill, he chose to take took drugs, and he felt no remorse after he killed. He is guilty of all these actions because when he was forced into becoming a child soldier, instead of being scared he used the title of ̈child soldier ̈ to his own benefit. Murder is not ok for whatever reasons, especially when you want to kill at a young age and do other atrocities.

In conclusion, education should be considered a basic human right. Because not everyone gets the opportunity to go to school and do what they want to do and that’s really unfair. That just because your a girl in Pakistan you don’t get to have an education. Also, education should be considered a human right because everyone wants to be someone in life and have a career and if you don’t have an education you can’t have that and it’s unfair. Education can also help you help other people like Malala did. She told people that they shouldn’t be scared to stand up for what’s right. Education is something we all need and it shouldn’t be taken away from us just because of our ethnicity or our gender.

One reason why Ishmael changes over the course of his journey is that he starts smoking. What’s happening is that Ishmael has changed his ways ever since he has gone into the camp.“In the daytime, instead of playing soccer in the village square I took turns at the guarding post around the village smoking marijuana and sniffing brown, brown, cocaine mixed with gun powder which was always spread out on the table and of course taking more of the white capsules, as I had before addicted to them”. (Beah 12) This supports the claim because it’s saying that after he had joined the group he started doing things that he’s not used to like smoking and now he’s addicted to drugs. This shows that he changed because when he was young he was playful and now he’s corrupt.

A reason why Ishmael’s actions were just justified is because of the fear he felt, A quote that I choose from the book was “My face ,my hands,my shirt and gun were covered with blood. I raised my gun and pulled the trigger, and I killed a man. Suddenly, as if someone as shooting them inside my brain, all the massacre I had seen since the day I was touched by war began flashing in my head (Beah 141). I choose this quote because it shows that Beah change by being brainwashed with guns and violence and how he handled it,It proves my point because it describes how the life of war change him he had all these thoughts and rough times. Beah is feeling fear, on how he is feeling.Ishmael never gave up and he keep going no matter what.
