The Ancient Chinese Had many achievements that affect us today like a seismograph a machine that can detect earthquakes to help prepare or flea if there was an earthquake. They also invented gunpowder which helped them defend against intruders and helped celebrate the Chinese New Year and other holidays with fireworks. They did not keep the process a secret unlike the process of making silk China’s main trade. Along the Silk Road people from Europe and China would travel this long dangerous path to trade silk and other goods.

There were many landforms that belonged along and inside the borders of Ancient China. The Ancient Chinese were dependent on the Yellow River and the Yangtze River. The Chinese had many deserts and mountain ranges that created natural borders for the Ancient Chinese and it’s neighboring countries.
YELLOW RIVER
The Ancient Chinese Civilization depended on the yellow river. The yellow color of the river was great for growing a grain called millet that was great for an ingredient in food. The people that lived along the yellow river also had sheep and cattle to help them farm.
YANGTZE RIVER
At 3,988 miles long, the Yangtze River is the third largest river in the world. Every year, the Yangtze River overflows. This helps the rice grow because the rice needs to be underwater for some time. The river kept a natural border between southern China and northern china.
THE HIMALAYA MOUNTAINS
Southeast of China lies the Himalaya Mountains. The Himalays are the tallest mountain range in the world.
The Deserts
The Gobi desert and the Taklamakan desert were some of the biggest deserts in the world at the time.

There were many different kinds of religions in Ancient China. The three main ones were Taoism, Confucianism, and Legalism. Here is a little information about all three.

TAOISM
Taoists believed that people are not “good” or “bad” and that everyone should be respected no matter what. They believe in equality for everyone of Ancient China. Including trying to persuade the Emperor into being equal.

CONFUCIANISM
Confucianists believed that everyone should respect the emperor of Ancient China. They believed that everyone should listen to the ruler and not to argue with them.

LEGALISM
Legalists believed in many strict laws. They believed that China should always follow them and never break them. They also believed that if someone broke the laws they should be punished. Many people who followed Legalism became people called Civil servants. Civil servants were people who were in charge of many people. They also ran schools and reported to the emperor after the days events.

Some people still follow all of these religions today.

There were many different ways of how China enforced laws, also the people in ancient China were respected because of the jobs that they had. The people with the most money had the best jobs like being a civil servant who collected taxes, made sure everyone was following the rules that the emperor made, and get this RAN SCHOOLS. The highest ranking civil servant could report to the emperor to tell them of the big events of the day that happened. They were highly respected and everyone followed the laws. Everyone thought of them as scary and they were always afraid of them.

Economics

Central Idea:The Silk Road was an important in China’s trade

The Silk Road was important because it helped to generate trade and commerce between a number of different kingdoms and empires. This helped for ideas, culture, inventions, and unique products to spread across much of the settled world.Later, under the rule of the Yuan Dynasty set up by Kublai Khan of the Mongols, trade from China along the Silk Road would reach its peak. During this time the Mongols controlled a significant portion of the trade route, enabling Chinese merchants to travel safely. Also, merchants were granted more social status during the Mongol rule than any other dynasty.
