Hello! I am Ara Sofia Babac, Lia to my family, Fia to my AdDU friends. My hometown is General Santos City, just south from Davao City. Fun fact: My parents always loved to tell stories about how I learned how to sing first before reading, with that said, one of my hobbies and talents is singing. I also LOVE reading fantasy books (although I am currently in a reading slump) such as Harry Potter, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Heroes of Olympus and many more. I love talking but hate public speaking but ever since I came to AdDU and took HUMSS strand, I had to keep up and conquer my fear.

After finishing 1 or 2 activities for the day I take a little break by opening Twitter and scrolling through my feed to let my mind rest and have a little laugh as I see memes that I can relate to. Now then, let's go to Japan! I dropped my pin here as I am also interested in anime. I have watched Jujutsu Kaisen, Demon Slayer, My Hero Academia, Haikyuu and a lot more! The photo up above is the saved pictures I have from Twitter as my Twitter feed is usually filled with anime content and sometimes memes. I also encounter news from my feed sometimes, then if I deem it important, I search more about it on Google.

As someone who likes to sing and loves listening to music, I need to at least have something playing while I am studying or doing activities. Music helps me be more productive as I can't get anything done or I would work slower without music. In this picture, I chose my current favorite song that reminds me of my best friend (stayed through my highs and lows) from Gensan named Daisy. We both applied to AdDU SHS but sadly, her parents wouldn't allow her to study somewhere farther than the sands in Gensan. The flowers on my desk, both the flower bouquet and the lego flower, are from her.

This show is about a special unit in the FBI that is about analyzing the behavior of a certain criminal to catch them. I find it interesting on how they can deduce the psychological state of a person just by the crime scene and using datas. I don't watch movies and series often but if someone would ask me what my favorite series to watch is, it would be criminal minds. Currently, I am on season 4 and haven't watched recently because of I usually study for the upcoming subjects. And I can't watch it on the weekends because I am too busy sleeping and resting for the weekends. But if given a free time I would pick it up again as I miss watching about how they solve the murders/crimes.

One of my most used social media platform is Tiktok. It is also an app that I open when I take breaks from studying or if I am bored in general. Since Tiktok originated from China, I placed the pin here. And as a teenager myself, I also have a Tiktok account. Although I don't post as much, most of the Tiktok videos that I am involved in are made by my classmates from my old school where we participate and make our own videos of the trends.

John Culkin, Jr. was an American academic and former priest who introduced media literacy, for that reason I placed the pin in US for my reflection.
I think what got me to like these media is because they are trending at the time I discovered them and eventually loved them. The media that I consume can be considered as a double-edged sword as they can help me de-stress and take my mind off of things. There can also be disadvantages as they can distract me from my chores and requirements. These types of media affect me by sometimes discovering my interests and also helping me express my emotions after a tiring week. It affects how I type causally with my friends as I like to use these :)), <33, and more. Also, seeing videos on Tiktok about how people feel about a certain situation help me understand and be more mindful of my words and actions with people as we have different sensitivity. As I stated earlier, these media are like a double-edged sword as they can help me become a better person but also affect my mood as soon as I see a negative video/news about people or media that I admire.

South Korea

Another hobby I would like to introduce is reading manhwas. Manhwas are similar to mangas, the only difference is where manga is comics from Japan while manhwas is comics from South Korea. There are 3 types, manhwa (South Korea), manga (Japan), and manhua (China). Since I usually enjoy the cliche 'overpowered protagonist' with colored art, I read manhwas. Personally, I have read a lot of manhwas but still am picky when it comes to the art and the pacing of the story. Despite the list of manhwas I have, I still have a tab open for most of the manhwas that I am waiting for an update as I forget a lot. I read manhwas on an online site in Google Chrome.

South Korea

We're still on South Korea! That's because K-pop is another interest/hobby of mine. There are a lot of groups in that industry, however, the groups that I am a fan of are Seventeen, Enhypen, and Blackpink. I know a lot more and listen to other K-pop groups but I am not a fully committed fan but I love their music. I see K-pop content in various social media platforms such as Tiktok, Twitter, and Instagram.
