After a long summer vacation, I finally met my classmates. Some of them had a new haircut, which made me fail to recognize them at first sight, while some had not changed much. We made class rules together, talking about which are the most suitable rules. The democratic way of organizing class is really great. Besides, we asked our classmates different questions, knowing more about each other, especially in personality and preference. I am very glad to meet Benjamin, and looking forward to the new semester with him.

Industrial revolution greatly improved social productivity and promoted social development, but also caused environmental problems.

From technical perspective, industrial revolution's most obvious form of manifestation is the vast advent of new technologies, such as steam engine which was widely used in transportation. The improvement of technology was the basis of development of social productivity, and then boost financial development.

Financially, the convenience brought by new means of transportation like steamboat create the condition for trade, while the improvement in social productivity satisfied the material requirement of trade. Therefore, trade, especially those ringing the Atlantic got flourished, bringing large amount of capital through flow of goods and money which boosted the development of capitalism.

Environmentally, during the process of industrial revolution, the protection of environment was not paid due attention to. Consequently, wasted water was put into the water system, and industrial gas was emitted into the air, which caused irreducible pollution. Meanwhile, the over exploitation of natural resources threated the ecological system. For example, the loss of forest may cause the extinction of some spices.

This semester I put more effort into the expansion of my vocabulary, since it is of great importance to my language expression and comprehension. Instead of using a word learning application called 'Baicizhan' as I used to do, I use another method after reflection on my previous way of reciting words. Before, I paid too much attention on efficiency, and always tried to command more words in a certian time. As a result, I just remember a little, though I went through many words. The problem lay on the lack of repeat. Repeat is of due importance if we want to have a deep memory of what we learned. In study process, it is called 'review'. According to my knowledge of brain, the memory of what we learned has a sharp decline in 72 hours, and we may just remember less than a quarter after a week. Therefore, an effective review should be in time. Now, I use words lists to reciting words. When I recite a word, I list it on my note. Each note contains the words I learned in a day, each of them will be review on the next day and the third day. I hope this method can have a better outcome.

This semester, I learned about how to make a WeChat Push. WeChat push is a way of passing information through WeChat Official Account, which is decorated with colorful words, different kinds of text boxes and pictures and photos about the topic. To make a satisfactory push, firstly, we should prepare the transcript and pictures, since they are the essential content of the push. Then, the material should be organized in a proper way. Different official account may have different styles of push. Some are beautifully decorated, while some are simple but neat. After a basic idea of the push, we should put the words and pictures in it with cautious. Adjustment also costs much time, especially to the decorating patterns. Once I spend half an hour looking for the proper color for the patterns.

Firstly, I learned about the structure about organization. According to what I've learned, organization can be classified into different types. For example, there are profit-orientated organization and non-profit orientated business, and business belongs to the non-profit orientated category. Now I am learning about business environmental analysis under micro-economic and macro-economic, such as the relationship between supply and demand. Since I already learned about basic knowledge in economic, this part is relatively easy to learn. I hope I can learn more new and useful knowledge in the future, and the process of learning ACCA is a prolonged propcess which requires diligence and persistence.

The Snows of Kilimanjaro is one of Ernest Hemingway's most popular short stories. The novel is full of introspection, reflection and regret for the lost life, as well as trembling and anger for the approaching death and hope for the return of the soul after death. With the help of symbolism, the author vividly describes how the hero looks back on the past and understands life when facing death: Fed up with the destruction of life, fear of death, anxiety and anger until the final detachment, guide people to reflect on the past experiences and the meaning of life, this is not a physiological or pathological process of death, but harry the eternal proposition for survival and death thinking and the process of gradually into understanding.

Symbols of history

------Reading Reflection of ‘ When the Stars Are Shining’

Heroes, like stars, shine in the long river of human civilization. They are representatives of the masses and treasures bred by nature.
Zweig's "When the Stars Shine" records the hero's flash across the night sky of history.Whether they succeed or not, the 12 characters in the book are all heroes.
Heroes can move history, but heroes are born of history.Goethe compared history to "God's magic workshop". If the masses are the numerous works supporting this workshop, the hero is the most representative work in these works of different periods. The museum has its treasures, heroes are also the concentration, refraction and symbol of history.Their ideological ability and spiritual quality, on the one hand, come from their private living environment, but to a large extent, they are determined by the era in which they live, and are constantly changed by the atmosphere of the era.
Heroes are the title of the later generations, before this, they are also the masses, and their inner light is inspired, perhaps is a special period of short and concentrated moment.Like an overcast summer day, when the air is stifling and sultry, lightning fills a corner of the sky, unleashing its pent-up energy.

During semester 3, I have make some progress in my listening and speaking, but there is still more improvement I can make. The major problem I have is that I always get nervous when I am speaking, which makes my brain blank and my words incoherent. Therefore, I should put more effort to pace myself and accumulate more phrases which can ensure what I am saying won’t be interrupted due to lack of words. I also need to speak more and communicate more with skills I have learned.

An academic presentation includes research and reference cited, which is shown in an academic style. The speaker should cite the reference correctly, and the source material used should be relevant and supportive. To make the audience follow the content clearly, a good structure should be built. Every section should be organized clearly and in a coherent manner. To achieve this, signposting language can be used. Speakers should not read a presentation, and the language can be neither too emotional nor too boring. To better engage the audience, speaker can use body language and eye contact, they should also pay attention to interaction with the audience. As to the slides, it should be kept simple. There are many ways to overcome nervous, and rehearsing for many times is an effective way. Anyway, the key point is confidence.

Village Banking

Village banking ------Summary and Reflection

The process of entrepreneurship is fast and unpredictable, and a large proportion of small businesses fail in the first 5 years. Their failure can be attributed to three main points: lack of a right team, poor market need, and cash flow problems. The reason why Village Banking can bring success to village entrepreneurs is that it accurately grasps the right management focus.

Village banking have the right team of entrepreneurs with high teamwork. Their members get together every week, working together and trading ideas on how to run business well. Compare with developed countries like US, where loans are secured by collateral, members of the village bank are co-guaranteed, since they are connected by community. This brings more chances for their business to grow and expand.

Another point that village bank does well is the constant respond to customers' feedback. Some small businesses are just collecting information and doing research, without collecting and acting on customers' feedback. The need of customers are constantly changing, getting their feedback can help business determine what products they should produce.

The last and most important factor of maintaining a business is the management of cash flow. In village bank, the cash are deposited soon as they are generated, and people pay high attention to how much it retains, which contributes to their achievement of 98% loan repayment.

From my point of view, cash is like the blood of a business, maintaining its present operation and supporting its future expansion. Even large profitable company can fail if the cash flow breaks. Therefore, it is of great importance for business to supervise and manage cash flow.
