Monopolistic competition is where a market has many competitors, but each makes a slightly different product that competes with the others'. Each has a monopoly or near-monopoly in their product.

Apple and Samsung both compete in the smartphone market, but their phones are fairly different from each other. Apple has a monopoly on Iphones, and Samsung has a monopoly on their Galaxies, but the two products are similar enough to compete with eachother

Non-price competition is when two products compete on things other than price.

The Xbox One S and the PS4 are currently within $30 of each other in price, which is barely anything in the video game/electronics industry. Therefore, the two consoles are not competing based on price, but rather on brand loyalty and quality (quality being, in this case, things like user-friendliness, available games, apps & features, etc).
