Who gets to make it? Who gets to see it? Who profits from it? Which one is more affordable? Which one is more accepted by society? Which one lasts longer? Which one do you think is the most powerful?

One of the things I think that street art differs from other types of art is that it is bold and expresses the point to everyone. I also think that people don't need to understand street art to find a purpose. I took a graffiti class last year and the teacher told me that it doesn't need to be read. In other words the words matter but it isn't the purpose.

Street art, in my eyes, is more for the public and to be more accessible and more expressive. Modern art is often seen as boring in the public eye, and gets placed in museums and is worth millions of dollars. Street art is more expressive and shows deeper meaning as to what the artist wants to show, as it has been for years.

It's different because street art is made for the public and for all to see, not just for rich people or for people who pay to walk around a museum.

street art is different from art in galleries and museums because in street art you are able to view it freely out and about while in a gallery or museum you can only see it by going inside of the building. You can only see it by paying.

Street art's difference from art presented in gallery's to me can be that it is seen by everyone. Gallery work is showcased in a different way than street art. It may be bolder or visualize a unique concept on a wider canvas. Street art can be controversal to some. Either commissioned or vandilism. Gallery art may be more widely accepted.

Street Art Vs Gallery+Museum Art

Jasiah - I definitely believe one of the main key factors in the difference between these two is formality. Typically street art is more informal, as there are laws surrounding some of it and mitigating it, which ties into it not being in Museums at times due to people's negative perception of this artistic expression. Materials may also be different compared to, so to speak, "normal" art such as spray cans and the fact concrete and wall structure is utilized compared to paper. It's also heavily cultural typically, and varies from location to location. It's also a free form of art to view, as Museums may have a fee (typically) to view the art. Street art also paves the way for less-known artists to gain traction. Another note may be that street art has more political perspectives, and controversies (again, informality). It also may be more tied to emotional expressions, compared to art in museums.

I think art in museums lasts longer because it is in a shelter and not outside, so it won't fade as much as if it were in the outdoors.
