I did not know that our touch receptors were sensitive enough to feel the beat of a fly's wing. I think it is fascinating that our bodies can feel such small movements. I think it is fascinating because you would not think something so small could be felt.

I was not aware that 4,000 nerves direct each hand. The fact that our hands are controlled by 4,000 nerves is unbelievable. It is unbelievable because the body utilizes so many parts that work together to be able to function and react.

I learned that our brain can override the cooling system that causes us to sweat so that the water in our bodies goes back to our organs so they can function. I think it is intriguing that our bodies can balance the need for water and the need to keep cool to survive. It is intriguing because the sensors in our bodies are sending signals to the brain and the brain sends signals to other parts of the body to start working in a way to help us.

What would happen if our bodies did not have this cooling system? Would we just cook like steaks when we got hot? It is amazing that our bodies work to maintain homeostasis at all times. It is amazing because without homeostasis, we would have to work twice as hard to stay alive. We would not be able to do much of anything if we did not have homeostasis.
