Audrey made a good point about the bailing system and how the higher classes have the money at their disposal to get out of bail and do well in court where as the lesser class are at a clear disadvantage.

Angelina's question is a very thoughtful one as public education very often glamorizes history or portrays marginalized groups incorrectly and/or inaccurately. It adds to the spread of misinformation and can directly affect the way future generations think. The truth is not always beautiful.

Pertaining to Angelina's question just the things that we learn in school can make rich people look higher than lower class people. An example of this is how many historical people that are discussed in class are mostly in higher social classes.

The idea that many believe that the lower class does not work as hard compared to the upper class due to the whole idea of "rags to riches" is great point to make as it truly shows how shared ideas and beliefs that are built up over time truly control people's ideas.

To expand on Lena's point about the importance of class discussions, I personally think that these discussions are an incredibly powerful tool in both English and History. You can tell a kid to think about other peoples' points of view, but how can they know how to do that if they've never been face to face with an opposing view. If a person is stuck to their own musings, it creates the idea of an "echo tunnel." All they hear is their own voices and ideas (on social media, this is a result of the algorithm giving them only what they want to hear), which is a dangerous situation.

I agree with Shaina since publishers need to publish textbooks with the whole truth. In order to help and see the information with 100% clarification, the textbook must not be censored since a textbook shouldn't be biased on what the reader sees and understands. Seeing and reading the information can help us comprehend the topic and it could help us determine how to move forwards if that certain topic reoccurs again.

A couple of people were talking about the importance of education in this discussion, so I wanted to highlight a portion of the text I found applicable. On page 207, the author uses the analogy of gender inequality. In summary, it was asked how girls could understand why they still face inequalities if they were presented with the idea that they've always had equal opportunities, just like what is said about social classes. I found this to be a very impactful point and made the argument very clear.

On Shaina's point about blaming the victims of economical inequality, I think this is an interesting topic to be expanded upon because of how it impacts class relationships. If it is the fault of lower classes that they struggle, higher classes (who actually cause the struggling and support the systems that cause the struggling) can continue to thrive without the threat losing their privilege and advantage. It creates almost an unbreakable cycle as the rich continue to get richer, and as they get richer, they have more power to silence the poor and get more money for themselves. And this discussion is important, rather than just thinking about it, because this is a topic that incites people to action.

I agree with the conversation, economic struggles with accepting the working class accomplishments are often overlooked. Higher ups in society tend to think little of those who work more but gain less. The "rich" mindset downplays hard work since they believe they're superior.

Another point Shaina hit that I agree with is, society likes to blame the victim since society believes sex discrimination is the cause of women's inequality. However they don't see the class discrimination. The biased viewpoints start to shape the mind of those who read censored textbooks.
