I really enjoyed creating this board game for English on the topic of Gamification. After reading our setwork book, we designed a game about. This skill will help us engage the children's learning through playing games.

Information Communication Technology 152

For ICTS 152 we designed a PowerPoint presentation on 3D objects. I was away at the time, and had great fun finding these object in the holiday home. I have learnt so many new skills in ICTS which I hope to continue using in the classroom.

Afrikaans

I like it when we get to do something out of the norm for a task. This Afrikaans taks had us making up story that followed a traditional story, but with our own twist. Afrikaans is not my strongest subject, as I grew up in Natal, where Afrikaans is not a common language. However with perseverance and making sure to cover all the material presented, my knowledge of the language has improved. My marks are improving with every assignment.

Mathematics

I was very surprised when with Mathematics, we were asked to handle Algebra. I last did this in high school many years ago, and did not realise it is covered in Grade 7 these days. I admittedly had to ask for some assistance from my daughter, in some places... but now I know how to do it again.

Science - Group work about Earth, its moon and the Sun.

This was the first time that we had to work together as a team on such a lengthy project. We designed a PowerPoint presentation and had to present it one night online to our lecturers. I was appointed as group leader. We did very well as a team and made some new friends.

Bella Donna Finishing Classes

In 2010 I founded a Finishing School for girls. I ran it for about 6 years selling over 40 franchises. This is what led me to realise that I love teaching and went to study to be a Montessori Teacher at the Montessori Centre of South Africa. I have since sold the business to my friend Robyn who now lives in Portugal and runs the business more as a life coaching platform.
