This is why the model in the image is brighter, bringing attention to the sadness and the darkness around includes this. The image is a girl who is being wrapped in all of these colors symbolizing the sadness. I felt this was a good way to do it as i imagine sadness as a consuming feeling, and this showed it perfectly in my head. Sadness brings out the thought of rain and clouds, so on these dull colors I have included some clouds to show fully how I feel when thinking of this word. Of course, the tears represent crying which is one of the most common forms of expression when you are sad, so I added this to show that feeling. The arm of the girl is reaching out so show how you want to break free from the sadness that is taking over you. I think this is showing expressionism as i am expressing on how sadness can be shown as a sense of surrounding as sadness consumes you and becomes the main topic of your mind.
