What stands out in these images?

I love the balance between the whites and the black in the image, It really exaggerates the war time feel. 

How does these images make you feel?
These images make me feel like this was the easier part of the war (if there is such a thing) which makes me slightly happy as i know the war would have been the worst thing to be put through.

Connotations: Alone, Loneliness, Confinement, Withdrawal, Privacy, Seperation  

Small things in big spaces, a singular thing, Black and White. Buildings being built or knocked down. Farm fields, silhouette - someone sitting in front of a window. Mental illness/health. My food plate as I isolate myself from food and seperate it on my plate.

Connotations: Quiet, Stillness, Static

Phone and headphones left on a table, Radio with no music, standing in the mirror without reflection, Screaming in water, someone going shh. Poppin' pills.

This might inspire me to explore more conceptual work within photography.

I used photoshop to edit my photos, while watching a video tutorial from youtube. The tutorial instructed me to mess around with the curves, playing around with the RGB layers. This changed the overall colour and tone of the image, making it slightly yellow and saturated, mirroring an image from the 1960s.

I was instructed by the video tutorial to use the curves rather than the hue and saturation. The way I knew how to do it was just to increase the saturation and the warmth, but this way was just as effective. 

My original intentions were to make the image more saturated and yellow, making it appear older looking. I think I achieved this look, however, I think it might be a little bit too yellow for my tastes. 

There were no problems, although I did have to watch certain parts of the video more than twice as it was an area of photoshop that I was not aware of.  Here I am referring to the curves tab, more precisely individually changing the RGB columns. 

My yellow edit, is the image that is least appealing to me. I feel like this is because the image has been drowned heavily in yellow colouring and contrast. I think because the image is already quite a bright image the yellow does not do it the right justice.

For the best effect I realised that for me anyways, black and white stands out more compared to the yellow edit and gives the image more depth and strength. By dropping the midtones and adding a bit of noise, It reflects the working style of certain photographers in the 1970s/80s. 

I had to use photoshop in order to design a poster, demonstrating peace. My placard design was "drop acid not bombs". In order to show how I feel about war. I feel like my poster reflected my intentions.

Light trails - Will show lazy shutter, lights trailing behind, shows peace = me taking it slow. Also colour contrasts red + blue. Peace to me, Being in the car, taking photos. 

Self portraits: Black + White clothes, black or white backdrop, edit images in black and white to show clean, crisp images. Shows me being content.  

Self portraits: edit me how I want to show me being different and showing myself how I want to be seen.

Influence on photoshoot: The images looks sharp, as he takes photos of important people. The images are also in black and white, in order to further exaggerated that these are serious photos of important people.

Influence on photoshoot:  Blacks and whites to strip back to what they actually want you to see. Blacks and whites contrast against each other. 

I think my placard design was very powerful as well as the message behind it. I am aware it was slightly inappropriate, but I noticed that my point had got across.

To improve, I could have added extra trippy bits of colours to further exaggerate the message. 

I didn't really like being in the protest, however I really enjoyed taking photos of the protest. This might inspire me to look out for more political opportunities.
