Popplet is an example of visual learning software.  This type of software allows users to easily move elements in order to adapt to their changing ideas (Paquet-Belanger, 2017, p.1).  Popplet was made for creating writing plans. It is part of the creative process of planning.  Popplet makes use of text, images, video and drawings to capture student ideas (Darling, 2019, p.1).  

An important part of the writing process is thinking about the topic, planning and organizing ideas.  Planning can be challenging for students who might not know what to say or how to organize the ideas they have.  One way to visually organize ideas is by using a graphic organizer (Evmenova & Regan, 2019, p.1).  Popplet is an example of this type of visual graphic organizer.
