Culture Dia De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead)
Material culture are the objects of a group in the picture above the alter is an offering to the loved ones that my family has lost. The skeleton dogs represent an old folklore that dogs are the ones that guide us on our journey in the afterlife and they take us to our families during this time.
The picture above is provides an accurate depiction of material culture as well as my beliefs every culture is different but I hold these traditions dear to my heart because we believe that if do not care on this tradition our loved ones will be forgotten and their legacy as well. Many of the objects placed on the alter serve a distinct purpose for the water, to the steps of the alter each, it ties in my ancestors the Mayas as well as my Roman Catholic family as well with the religious representation with the cross.

Minority
Living in predominately caucasian small town my family among those that lived around me knew that we were the minorities within our community. We were victims of both prejudice and racism growing up, while my friends parents held office jobs my parents were the landscapers, or the janitors. The prejudice my siblings and I faced hurt more than the racism because it was something that we grew accustomed too the prejudice made us question what was wrong with us.But we also faced challenges within our small minority community my brothers and I being of a darker complexion were often overlooked when compared to our youngest sibling whom many assumed we were babysitting and had no relation to us .

Religion
While religion is often depicted in a positive light my religious beliefs have found ways to question it, religion can be a set of values or beliefs that one holds sacred. Often time many in my religion specifically attend mass because our parents make us go, I grew closer to my religion with the passing of my grandmother. I found a peace in the religious symbols and even some sacred texts that she held dear as well, while I am raising my daughter I plan to allow her to choose whether or not she wants to follow my religion or her own. I do believe that there are some religious rituals that must be followed for example baptism in my culture a child must be baptized during infancy because at one time children did not make it past the first couples of birth and since they were not baptized they are stuck in limbo. I decided to baptize my daughter because she has some health issues and the fear of her soul being stuck in limbo worried me.

Formal Organization
While I am a part of many organizations, as a mother, a student, a coworker, and a teammate, they all give me keep me on my toes. They all play into different parts of my life as a mother I know my daughters care depends of me, a student my grades, as a coworker my responsibilities while helping customers, and as a teammate knowing when to rely on my teammates. Each of these groups provide an expressive function in my life, but my primary group is to my daughter. While a student, coworker, and teammate fall into a secondary group my daughter will always be the same person but my boss, professors, and teammates will change from time to time I may also change my role in each of these aspects. But each role has given me an opportunity to be a leader that applies to each one and my role is crucial in each on them.

Social Stratification
A family's social standing is based on wealth or income, which can also be based on race and education. Growing up a child doesn't really begin to notice the social inequalities among our peers. But as I got older, I began to realize that my family was better off than some of the families that lived in the same trailer park as us. The impact of brands was also apparent whether it be from clothing, to a food brand as well. Many confuse wealth and income, wealth is based on assets or the amount of money that one has, while income is the money that one makes from their job.
There are various levels in social stratification that are impacted not just by money alone but also educational levels as well.
