We use it in gene therapy, Pharmacogenomics, and genetic testing.

Gene therapy is in its simplest form the replacing of a cancerous or disease gene  with the healthy genetic code that is considered "normal". The genetic code is copied into the cell, and the cell goes through mitosis to produce new cells and so on. This process will eventually rid the body of the diseased cells and replace them with the healthy cells.

Genetic testing is used in many ways, whether it's to determine if you have a disease like Huntington's or you are the father of a child. 

Pharmacogenomic is used to help genetically figure out a personality, it is used to expand drugs and help find cures for diseases not yet cured or prevented before.

Vaccines: We have created certain vaccines and inject them into plants so they can carry antigenic proteins from pathogens that will trigger an immune reply. A patient-specific vaccine is used in treating cancer and an anti-lymphoma vaccine has been made to increase the immune system while having the cancer.

Biofuels: Genetic Modifications are being made to help deal with spills of harmful chemical substances like oil. This can help reduce the costs of cleaning up. Some bacterias are modified where to they can "eat" the oil and we clean up the bacteria. 

Pesticide-Resistant crops: Plants are modified where to they are immune to certain pesticides and give off pesticide to kill of weeds around the plant.








Flowers, Plant, and animal reproduction: 
We can make it so plants can be prevented from cold weathers,  more of it, and bigger. Animals can provide more meat. Even the simplest of plants like flowers are been genetically modified. Agriculture ties in with Food Processing because they both deal with using genetics on food. You could call them the exact same thing!

There are certain genes/variations farmers like in their crops. We known of cross-breeding, so whats the difference between crossing, and genetically modifying? 
Genetically modifying is to ensure the variations you want and possibly adding a little extra. Don't want your plants harmed by pesticide or attracting insects?
