Fiqh is concerned with human life but more specifically with intentional action. fiqh begins by categorizing human action into intentional and unintentional, then it systematically evaluates each intentional action in the light of revelation to determine its its religious classification. Fıqh puts every intentional human action into a provision. Fuqaha classified actions into 5 categories: mubah -> neither required nor prohibited

al haram -> strictly forbidden

al wagib -> actions that must be performed

al makruh -> discouraged but not sinful (?)

al mandub -> actions that are encouraged and rewarded but not mandatory. Hanafi mazhab has two more categories : fardh and markup hanafi mazhab has two more categories : fardh and markup tahrimanb

al-fard: absolutely obligatory, proven definitely
al wagib - a transitional category between al fard and al mandub
makruh tahreeman: a transitional category between al haram and al markuh

99% of intentional human actions are permissible, mubah -> all actions permissible until proven otherwise
fard/wagib and haram most important bc determine boundaries of lawful(unlawful actions)

We learned the history of Fıqh in first lecture. And which are sources used in fıqh? Finally, we learned differences of periods such as profit ot calips.

Second lecture, we learned Relational Propositions in Fiqh. Espicially, hoca emhasized differences of propositions. Causes, conditions, preventions etc.

Generally they were about the history of fiqh in terms of mezheps especially, and the history of mezheps. Also, we covered the provisions such as farz, vacip etc.

We learned propositions in 2A. And we learned sünni maddhaps in 2B.

Also this week we learned approachs and sources of fiqh.

We started with a summary of the las one as we redifine fiqh not as islamic law but as a wider concept that is a guide framework. It categorizes the intentional actions.

Then we talked about categorizes of the propositions. There are 2 types: 1) categorical (which are the mezheps) 2) relational (sebep, rukn, şart and mani)

Second clas we started with sources of fiqh to make propositions. Fisrt two are abviously Quran and ahadith. Then many other aoptions come such as kiyas, wellbeing of the society, İstihsan (preference among options) etc.

Then we talked aboutearly history in 2 ways: First as capitalsa (Madina, Damascus, Baghdad). Second, as people: Sahaba, Tabiun (7 independent jusrist), Taba'Tabiun

Lastly we talked about how the mezhebs emerged starting from Hanefi, Maliki, Shafi, and Hanbeli. How they got effected from each other and how they established

2a: The relevance of fiqh to human life and actions. Also we learned al-fard: absolutely obligatory, al-wajib: a transition between al-fard and al-mandub, makruh tahriiman: a transition between al-haram and al-makruh, etc.

2b: We learned quran, sunnah, ijma: agreement of mujtahid muslim jurists, qiyas: analogical reasoning, istihsan: preference, etc.

We learned about the sects, their names and what they mean. In the second lesson, we learned about the sects and touched on the lives of the imams.
