Renaissance style architecture replaced the complex or irregular Gothic structures that were common at this time. renaissance style architects focused more on symmetry, proportions, and being geometrical. Renaissance architecture also showed distinct characteristics like Domes, Columns, Facades, and painted Ceilings for structures.

Basilica di San Lorenzo, Italy (1470 )

The church was built by the Medici Family, and was to act as a burial chamber for the family. The church began construction in 1419 and was largely completed around 1459. San Lorenzo has many different features that show characteristics from the Renaissance architecture. A couple of these characteristics are the integrated system of columns and arches inside, another characteristic that was used would be the use of spherical segments. It's interesting how the church was used like how emperors of Egypt used pyramids.

Basilica of St. Giustina, Italy (1489)

The church was built by the Perfect Opilius and other Christian martyrs to house Saint Justina of Padua remains. The church was first built in the in the 6th century but in the 10th century the church was rebuilt and was established under rule of St. Benedict. The church features 26 Colum's that help support the building. Also the church has eight large domes that go over the central bay areas.

Tempietto del Bramante, Italy (1502 AD)

The tiny temple was built by Donato Bramante. The rounded temple is located in the courtyard of the church of San Pietro and sits on the spot where St. Peter was crucified. Features of the temple that resemble Renaissance style architecture would be the large dome on the top, another feature could be the evenly spaced columns that surround the temple. I found it interesting how small the temple is compared to other temples that are used for the same reason.

Palazzo Pitti, Italy(1400s AD)

The Palace was built for the Pitti Family but later bought by the Medici family, it was designed by Brunelleschi and constructed by his pupil Luca Fancelli were he began building in 1458 but lost funding in 1472 with the death of Luca Pitti. Some Renaissance styles that were used would be its many arches and also its painted ceilings. I did find it interesting on how many paintings were found in the palace.

The Jefferson Memorial, United States (1943)

The memorial was built was with the sponsorship of president Franklin D Roosevelt. Construction of the building started in 1939 and shortly ended in 1943. A couple characteristic that the building has that resemble features of the renaissance style would be its equally spaced columns all around the building. Another characteristic could be its large dome covering the building. Something interesting I found about this building is how it is similarly built to the Tempietto del Bramante.

São Francisco Cultural Center, Brazil (1788)

The building was built by Franciscans and started in 1589 and completed in 1788. A couple characteristics that it shares with the Renaissance style would be its Facades on the top of the building, another characteristic would be the painted roof of the church. I found it interesting how it took 200 years to complete the building.
