These inequalities often come from living in two different worlds where there are different expectations based on home culture and culture of school. We are primarily focusing on african american and latino children. It is also how home functions and how school functions - inequities between two worlds that may be very different may support the achievement gap. Sometimes we don't teach in a way the students learn best and we are not always conscious of that and that may lead to those inequities as well. School replicates those inequities that we have in greater society.
