         <title>Tennis Court Oath</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The three estates met at Versailles on May 5, 1789 to discuss a constitution and taxes. When the time came to make a constitution, the third estate was locked out of the  meeting place. Angered and feeling played, the third estate moved to the tennis court next door and planned to hold meetings there until they produced a constitution. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>A new constitution was made and became more popular over France. Giving only 'active' citizens ( rich men)the right to vote, leaving women and the poor men without a choice in their government. People wanted more reform but Louis XVI wasn't too fond of the idea of Constitutional monarchy. </div>]]></description>

         <title>Storming of the Bastille</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>On July 14, 1789,  the cost of bread was at an all time high, which made people hangry. Around 900 Parisians broke into the old prison to steal armory for protection against the king's troops. After four hours of fighting, the prison warden surrendered and was killed. This event brought revolution to Louis' attention. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Since France was on the edge of financial doom, Louis XVI called a meeting where representatives from the three estates would meet together. This meeting was to discuss voting and different aspects to how the economy and constitution need to be adjusted for the benefit of all. Instead, the ideas brought by the third estate were declined and the third estate was locked out from the meetings.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

This work was inspired by the English Bill of Rights and the American Declaration of Independence(and constitution). Basically ideas gave "men" freedom, allowed all groups to be taxed and enforced freedom of speech, along with other liberties. </div>]]></description>

Basically setting up 2 legislative houses, the lower house (council of 500) and the upper(250). The responsibilities of the lower was to draft laws and the upper was to approve or deny the proposed laws. When voting in elections only 30,000 people of the whole nation qualified to vote. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The National Convection began meeting and planned to make a constitution but they also filled in as France's&nbsp;ruling body. There wasn't a lot of trust in the king and a lot of people were educated in politics because of the revolution so, the National Convention abolished the monarchy and established France as the French Republic. </div>]]></description>

After the point of Robespierre having too much power, the National Convention realized that he had gone too far and so they were able to get enough votes to have him tried and guillotined in July 1794. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>By summer of 1794, the majority of France's enemies had been defeated so the need to proceed with the Reign of Terror wasn't dire but since Robespierre was hell bent on ridding all of the corrupt in Paris. The law of 22 Prairial  was passed and Robespierre got more power than he needed but the National Convention gathered enough votes to have Robespierre guillotined on July 28, 1794. </div>]]></description>
