Before we submit referrals, we have to ensure we have enough evidence for Alder Hey/ Knowsley/Lancashire pathways. Without the evidence, they will reject during triage. They are aware children mask in school, but still require evidence from school, which does make things a little tricker.

If your child's class teacher agrees with the referral, as they have sufficient evidence, they will contact the SENDCO to arrange for the paperwork to be sent out. Depending on the referral, the paperwork will either be sent by paper or emailed to parents to complete. We find this process ensures parents have time to write everything they wish, being given time to think through each question instead of being under pressure in a short meeting situation. • reading, writing and spelling

• numerosity 

• comprehension

• processing difficulties such as sequencing, inference, coherence and elaboration

• working memory

• short term verbal memory 

• other types of executive function difficulties

1) Pay privately.

2) Use NHS via Alder Hey- both school and GP can refer (approx 2 years)

3) Request Right to Choose through GP (approx 8 weeks - 18 months depending on provider and request made). If GP declines, then email practice manager with complaint as you have a legal right to access on behalf of your child.
