I think the desertification is very important to stop, because if would not do it on one day our country has such a big population that if would be difficult to mange. Furthermore it is very important for the people who could use agriculture to earn money. Because of this we should do counter measures like stone walls.
Fabian Dreyer

The most important part in the fight against the desertification is that all countrys, espacially the industrial countrys, should support the affected countrys. The kind of support should be different. Industrial states should support affected countrys with money and regulate their consumption. Closer states might help building up counter measures.

The people living in countries with desertification can’t solve the problems by themselves. Those people/countries need help, especially from other countries. It’s not just about countries helping countries... It is also about all the "little" people out there. We need to buy regional things, stop going everywhere by car or plane. The climate change can’t be stopped right now or in the next months / years. One has to look more into the future and we have to want reaching more little goals.
Hanna Peltzer

I agree with the others that desertification is a global problem and we must fight against it together, especially in the industrialized countries. Just like Hanna said, we would also like to have help if we are in their situation. Of course, you can sit down with other peoples in your own country and think about the common problem or find solutions together, such as not using endangered soils against each other is only a small step towards change. But we are all to blame for climate change and deforestation and so we should all help, because it can happen to us at some point. Also, helping others can give strength to people who are in need. Knowing that you are not alone in need also helps you to hold out in such a situation!! So we should support each other together!

Lily Kaptijn

I totally agree with the others. Desertification is also a much bigger problem for us than climate change is. Usable land for humanity gets lost and also springs and countries are drying up. Desertification and climate change reinforce each other so we are stuck in an unstoppable cycle from destruction. The economic consequences are that it would be too expensive to come up for nature damages like landslides. The developing countries would also have a big problem because of desertification. The people depend of the use of nature and if this gets destroyed by overuse of nature ,people would need to move away and a political instability would prevail. The people which are living in the countries are trying to restore their lands by themselves, but what’s already done can not be undone. So developed countries need to show more responsibility and commitment for the global problem. Also financially!

(Selen Safak)

I completely agree with the others. Desertification and the climate change must be stopped but I am pretty sure that this is not really possible anymore. Desertification is a big problem mostly in dry countries caused by humans and the climate change which is mainly caused through carbon dioxide which is mostly consumed by the human species (a never ending triangle if nothing changes). Althea affected countries do not get enough help as nearly all of the others already mentioned. Everybody can help. Many people think that it is enough to know about desertification but they do nothing. And that is the problem, many people know but don’t do anything against it or don’t know what to do which is in my opinion also a big problem. It is the same with climate change. Maybe it can’t be stopped completely but I think that many industrial countries or every industrial country could do musch more.

I agree with the opinion of the others. The climate change and the problem that comes with it, desert formation, is a very big global problem. the extent cannot be stopped easily or immediately prevented. But we humans could all contribute something by acting more thoughtfully. I think the problem is that we all don't think about what triggers our actions. one reason could be that we are not shown it and so do not worry about it. The climate change creates desertification, but the eroded soils promote this, as they cannot store any CO2. so this is a vicious circle.
I hope that we will get the problem under control in a few years, when, for example, everyone is more thoughtful and responsible for our world. There is only one.

I agree with the other statements, however I think people tend to underestimate the enormous effort to prevent desertification. To prevent desertification correlates with waiving on certain things and many politicians are not ready to waive on those things, mainly because they have other problems within their country. Especially the poorest countries, mainly found in Africa, want to boost their economy as fast as possible, completely ignoring sustainability or environmental issues. So it’s our duty to help those countries.
