Stage 1:Trust Vs. Mistrust

This stage is about the child learning if their parents will meet their emotional and physical needs. If the parent does, they will have trust and if they don't they will have mistrust.
I believe my resolution was mistrust. This is because I was abandoned in a fruit and vegetable market. I then spent this whole stage in an orphanage and never had steady affection or food. This made me not trust adults or others.
"If trust predominates, as it should, children develop hope: the belief they can fulfill their needs and obtain their desires." (Martorell, pg. 150)

This stage is learning to explore oneself actions and their own bodies. If the child is able to take control, they will reach autonomy, but if the parents hold full control they will have shame.
I believe I was at autonomy. This would be because I was adopted at this point and then my parents allowed me to find myself and grow as my own person. My parents allowed me to learn to make my own choices and actions.
"Children achieve a balance between self-determination and control by others."

This stage is about the child learning if they have control over the world. They learn about asserting themself and initiation. If they are praised for taking control they reach initiative, but if they are punished then they reach guilt.
I definitely think I would be initiative. Growing up I would always make up games and I would try to make my siblings play games with me. I was also quite bossy and would get them to participate.
"Children balance the urge to pursue goals with reservations about doing so." When the child is recognized for their work they reach industry and when they are told they need to do better or be more they reach inferiority.
I believe mine was inferiority. This is because I am Asian and have a cleft lip. I was also told I was different and bullied for being different. This made me believe that I needed to do and be better.
"Children must learn the productive skills their culture requires or else face feelings of inferiority." I learned what things I was into and I really focused on my schooling and excelling with my grades. I wanted to become the best person I could be.
"Identity forms as young people resolve three major issues: the choice of an occupation, the adoption of values to live by, and the development of a satisfying sexual identity."
