One area that I would like more assistance with is additional strategies for helping a teacher show compassion for that one student that drives him/her crazy. I know that teachers need to look at what students have to endure in their lives and take that in to account. However, it is sometimes difficult to keep giving the same student chances over and over again.

One "ah ha" I had in this module was recognizing how important self-compassion is. I find that it is much easier to be compassionate towards others than myself. I realize that I need to let myself make mistakes, learn from those mistakes, and move on. I also need to be kinder to myself and accept that I can't do everything. I am doing the best that I can. I am not perfect and that is okay!

One lingering question I have is how do I begin to help a teacher who struggles to recognize that his/her emotions are affecting his/her teaching and relationships with his/her students and colleagues? "Onward" by Elena Aguilar does a good job of providing information and examples of how to start this process with a mentee. However, what happens if that person is very reluctant to accept that his/her emotions may be part of the problem?

However, since reading chapter 2, I have already found myself becoming more aware of my emotions and trying to take more deep breaths, especially in times of stress.

We as a society like to blame someone when things do not go as planned. Accepting responsibility sets a good example for others and shows students that we don't have to blame someone when things do not go as planned. We need to be flexible and apologize and accept responsibility if that is what has h
